Local USB/WiFi Sync Fails

The PC is Windows 7 x64, the Android device is a brand new Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch running stock Android 2.3.4.
I open SafeWallet on the phone, click local sync, then I see the Sync Key and it waits for a connection.
On the desktop, I start the sync manager, click Android Device, then it looks for the phone. After a while I am prompted for the sync key, which I enter, then I get error 10004 - failed to connect to the phone.
Both are connected to the same LAN, same address space (192.168.1.*). I have Bonjour installed on the PC and the service is running. I disabled the firewall on the PC.
Tried restarting both PC and phone- same thing.
I also have an HP Touchpad, it is detected by the PC using WiFi sync, but then sync fails- because of a bug on the Touchpad app (the plugin crashes). So this tells me it's probably not an issue with my PC, but rather the Android phone.
Tried also USB sync with the SGS2, but then SafeWallet says it has found a connected USB device but not a phone. Do I have to mount the phone as Windows network drive to make it work, or is it enough to plug it in using USB and seeing it under "My Computer"?

Hi Sagipe,
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you.
We are in the midst of a large change in terms of how sync works.
We will get back to you shortly, please bare with us a little longer.
Btw, Have you tried using Dropbox sync meanwhile?

Hi Rare_78
We're currently still working on this upcoming change and hope to have more news in upcoming weeks. If you are having trouble with the WiFi sync I will suggest looking in to either Dropbox sync or USB sync options. Both offer a great alternative syncing option that was implemented to help users to sync their wallet in cases of trouble with the WiFi sync. Since there are a lot of elements involved in the WiFi sync it is slightly hard to tell exactly what might be the cause for the syncing trouble.
I hope this helps a bit.
Have a great Sunday!

I have the same issue with my Droid Bionic and not being able to sync either WiFi or via USB. I keep looking for some instructions somewhere, but am not sure where to look any more. Thought maybe I am doing something wrong. Also interested in the "cloud" portion, but again can't find any info on it.
Hi KWilcox and welcome to our forums!
Please see my reply in the link below and see if it helps. Technically you should mount your Android as external device for the USB sync to work (I've included short instructions in my post above how this should be done). I hope this helps.
